Today we would like to share our story about our place within the History of Controlled Bolting here in the North-East of England.
The North-East of England has a long industrial history. It is perhaps most famous for its coalfields and railways, but there is much more to the industrial past of this region. Of course, the borders of County Durham and Northumberland ran to the banks of the River Tyne until the later 20th century and many examples of our industrial past lie in what is now Tyne and Wear. This is especially true of developments in coal mining, railways, and shipbuilding. For our purposes, we will be concentrating on the controlled bolting industry in Cramlington in Northumberland several miles north of the River Tyne.
Home to a cluster of big names in the world of bolting such as Hedley Purvis Ltd (now Enerpac), Hytorc, and Thomas Potter. HTL Group’s story begins with a man named Ray Jones whose career started with Hedley Purvis Ltd, then Hytorc before founding Hire Torque Limited in 1996.
HTL’s foundations were built upon a very simple strategy of putting customer service front and centre as its number 1 priority when supplying high-quality controlled bolting tools to local and national businesses. A strategy that is still true to this day and has been paramount to our growth and recognition within this bustling industry.
Now as Industry Leaders in controlled bolting, flange working, portable machine equipment, and as an approved Enerpac Distributor and Service Centre, we continue to go from strength to strength, still delivering on our original promise of excellent customer service and easy/quick access to high-quality industrial tools.
Still operating from our Cramlington home and an additional 2 UK sites in Aberdeen in Scotland and Great Yarmouth on the South East coast of England (both with impressive historic industrial roots of their own) there is no one better placed than HTL to supply a cross-section of industry sectors within the UK.
Every member of the team here at HTL are immensely proud of our North East origins and are all working hard to maintain HTL Group as the shining example of the controlled bolting excellence across all of Great Britain.
