Meet the People Behind the Business and learn the stories of the amazing individuals behind HTL. This month meet Micky, one of our team of Workshop Technicians that is based in our Cramlington facility.
You may have had the opportunity to meet Micky as he’s the dedicated Technician in our Calibration Van, diving to customer sites around the country to carry out the calibration and servicing on tools.
Let’s learn more about him.
On a day to day basis, I mostly enjoy the variety of work that’s involved in the Workshop. It can be a fast-paced environment as the company prides itself on having a fast, reactive Hire Fleet, but there may also be a long term project that needs working on. Whether its servicing and repairing customers tooling, calibrating tooling for the Hire fleet or helping customers over the phone, no two days are the same.
What makes me smile is the general working environment is the people I work with. They’re a good bunch of people with a can-do attitude and a bit of lightheartedness in there as well.
I would say if you wanted to follow an engineering career path, I would enrol in an Apprenticeship Programme and learn all you can whist your company is paying for it!
I started my career a tad later than what I had planned and started my Apprenticeship Programme when I was 22, completing a BTEC level 3 in Mechanical Engineering. Then, later on, progressing to my HNC level 4 in General Engineering, which was a mix of Mechanical and Electrical principles as well as Project Managing.
In my spare time, I enjoy going to our works private Gym, playing the XBox (Can’t beat Call of Duty) and on the weekend it’s Football.
